Guest Post – A quick primer on what is a racist road sign and what is not

A quick primer on what is a racist road sign and what is not as there seems to be accusations of this flying left right and center at the moment.

It seems as if this makes a lot of our “progressive” friends very unhappy.

They are proposing to change all the road signs in NZ, at great cost in consultation, design and so forth (so much they won’t even tell us how much it is), so they look like this.

And if you disagree, you’re a racist, fascist, white supremacist, freedumb, NAct antivaxer.

If you think this is a lot of money to be spending when 600,000 Kiwis are borrowing money to buy food, then guess what?

You are not a racist.

If you think that people read top to bottom, so the dominant, most read language should be at the top and prominent, guess what?

You are not a racist.

If you think it is because #@!$ Māori $!@ then, guess what?

You are a racist and fuck you.

If you think it is bad to put the dominant language at the top, guess what?

You’re probably not a racist.

You’re an idiot, but that’s okay because we know you vote Labour, Greens or for the Māori Party and thinking isn’t your game.

If you think it is bad to put English names on signs without them, guess what?

You may actually be a racist as well.

But, I’m not sure about this one, so would love to hear what you think about this scenario.

Hope that helps!

P.S.

The option on the left is the best option while we have so many societal problems during a cost of living crisis.

The option on the right is best for the future when we have solved those problems.

If you found this helpful, please share it.

P.P.S

If you think that fixing potholes, catching up on median safety barriers and other core services are more important than bilingual road signs.

Guess what?

You are also not a racist.

Processing…
Success! You're on the list.
